Approval of a qualification or training course

ACECQA publishes a list of approved qualifications and training courses for Australian education and care services.

If your organisation’s qualification or training is not on this approved list, you can apply to ACECQA to have it assessed for inclusion on the list:

Approval of early childhood education programs

An organisation with early childhood education programs not on the list of approved early childhood education and care qualifications can apply to ACECQA to have its programs added to the approved list.

When is an application required?

Higher education providers and organisations need to apply to ACECQA if:

  • they want their course or program added to the approved list of qualifications, or
  • they are making significant changes to the structure or content of a course already on the approved list.

Programs are approved for a period of five years; any programs coming to the end of their approval period will need to be submitted as a new application.

Approval of first aid, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis management training

An organisation offering a training course in first aid, emergency asthma management and/or anaphylaxis management training that is not on the list of first aid, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis qualifications can apply to ACECQA to have it added to the approved list. 

When is an application required?

An organisation needs to apply to ACECQA if:

  • they want their first aid, emergency asthma management or anaphylaxis management training added to the approved list of training, or
  • they are making significant changes to the structure or content of training that is already on the approved list.

Programs are approved for a period of three years; any programs coming to the end of their approval period will need to be submitted as a new application.

Assessment process

ACECQA will email applicants within 10 working days once an application has been received and the fee payment processed. Assessments are usually completed within 60 calendar days, providing that all supporting documents are submitted and are appropriately certified. 

After an assessment

Once an outcome has been determined, ACECQA will notify the organisation of the outcome by email. If the application is approved, the qualification will be added to the list of approved qualifications within five working days.

If the application is assessed as not meeting the guidelines, the organisation will receive a letter outlining the reasons for the decision.
