Guide to the NQF – 1 January 2020 update now available
As previously advised in the ACECQA Newsletter, this year changes to the National Regulations bring in new staffing requirements.
The National Regulations now require centre-based services to have a second early childhood teacher (ECT), or another ‘suitably qualified person,’ in attendance when 60 or more children preschool age or under are being educated and cared for on any given day.
Regulations 133 and 134 now apply in all states and territories except NSW, as it already has stronger minimum requirements for ECTs (refer to regulation 272).
Other minor changes to the National Regulations ensure they operate as intended and allow service providers facing workforce challenges more time to implement new requirements. This table lists all the changes in a print-friendly PDF. We've updated the Guide to the National Quality Framework (NQF) for these and other minor changes.
The consolidated National Regulations are now available online.
