ACECQA’s 2016-17 Annual Report has been published in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law.

ACECQA today announced that 93% of all children’s education and care services approved under the National Quality Framework have received a quality rating, with 75% rated at ‘Meeting National Quality Standard’ (NQS) or above (as at 30 September 2017).

The Education Council recently agreed to extend several transitional provisions in the National Regulations primarily relating to staffing and qualifications arrangements in the children’s education and care sector.

On 15 September 2017, the Education Council made the Education and Care Services National Amendment Regulations 2017 (Amendment Regulations).

As at 30 June 2017, 14,106 children’s education and care services (91 per cent of all services approved to operate under the National Quality Framework) have received a quality rating, with 73 per cent rated at Meeting National Quality Standard (NQS) or above. There have also been almost 2,500 quality rating reassessments.

From 1 October 2017 there will be less paper-based forms for the National Quality Framework.

As at 31 March 2017, 73% of children’s education and care services are rated at Meeting National Quality Standard (NQS) or above, up from 69% a year ago.

ACECQA has published its fourth occasional paper, analysing one of the most challenging areas of the National Quality Standard (NQS), Quality Area 3 – Physical environment. The NQS assesses the safety and suitability of the physical environment, as well as whether it offers a rich and diverse range of experiences that promote children’s learning and development.
