Canberra Grammar School Early Learning Centre’s driving commitment to continuous improvement has helped the service earn an Excellent rating from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
Canberra Grammar School Early Learning Centre implements a range of innovative programs and strategies to build and sustain inclusive partnerships with children and their families.
‘Bush School’, a core component of its program, encourages children and their families to spend time together in the bushland adjacent to the service, helping to increase children’s resilience and fitness, and develop a strong appreciation of the fragility of their surrounding environment.
The service also runs an Adventure Club on some Saturdays throughout the year, welcoming families and children to participate in activities such as indoor rock climbing, cooking school experiences and visits to the National Arboretum and national parks.
ACECQA Board Chair Rachel Hunter congratulated the centre on its outstanding achievement.
“I applaud Canberra Grammar School Early Learning Centre for its efforts to extend children’s learning and reinforce the importance of our natural resources and environment through its specialist programs,” Ms Hunter said.
Educators at the service work hard to develop an understanding of the children and their families, and the service offers a strong support network for those who have members serving overseas in the armed forces.
Educators are also active leaders in the sector, seeking out opportunities to share their knowledge with other services through local networks. In 2015, the service is committed to beginning a partnership with the Gunawirra organisation, providing support to educators in remote areas around NSW.
“Canberra Grammar School Early Learning Centre’s practice of ongoing research and information sharing improves quality across the education and care sector by inspiring other services to improve practices,” Ms Hunter said.
Services that receive an overall rating of ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standard’ can apply for the Excellent rating.
