John Paul College Outside School Hours Care recognised for Excellence

Date first awarded: 16 January 2014
Date re-awarded: 25 November 2016
Valid until: 24 November 2019

Children at John Paul College Outside School Hours Care learn valuable lessons about leadership, the environment and sustainability. The service has a ‘Farmer’s Market Day’ where children share vegetables from their garden with the school community. Children also connect to and learn about their natural world when they visit the fish pond located on school grounds. Children have the opportunity to learn about the lifecycles of the fish and creek ecosystem, implementing their 'Catch and Release' policy.

John Paul College Outside School Hours Care also holds leadership days to encourage older children to take on a leadership role by organising structured activities such as sports days and tennis days. This empowers the older children to become leaders and positive role models in their community. Since offering the leadership days, educators and parents have noticed the transformation in some of the children.
