Lansvale Public School Preschool has been awarded the Excellent rating by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), the highest rating a service can achieve under the National Quality Framework.
Services that receive an overall rating of ‘Exceeding National Quality Standard’ can apply for the Excellent rating. The Excellent rating is awarded for three years. After this time services have the option to re-apply.
The Lansvale-based service was recognised for its collaborative partnerships with professional, community or research organisations, commitment to children that respects, reflects and celebrates culture and diversity, including place of origin, inclusive partnerships with children and families and its practice, and environments that enhance children’s learning and growth.
Examples of exceptional practice at the service include:
- Its Positive Behaviour Learning (PBL) program that supports children in becoming responsible for their own behaviour. The PBL program reflects the outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework and is supported by a matrix of behavioural expectations developed by children, families and educators.
- A focus on developing strong future learners through its integration of innovative technology experiences and programs.
- Community Language Educators (CLE) who support the service’s bilingual children and families by providing opportunities for them to engage with educators and learning experiences using their home language. CLEs also provide families with comprehensive learning stories, observations and reflections on children’s learning and growth which are translated into the child’s home language.
- Community Liaison Officers (CLO) work with the service to support inclusive partnerships with culturally diverse families. CLOs organise outings and workshops for families to make connections and build relationships with other families.
As a leader in the sector, Lansvale Public School Preschool shares with the education and care sector through presenting at conferences, hosting workshops, conducting visits of its service, and contributing content to professional publications, such as the creation of a ‘Filmpond’ movie for NSW Department of Education, helping to ensure its positive impact reaches beyond the children and families who access the service.
