- COVID-19 Application Requirements
While the impact of covid has varied globally, many countries have found the continued delivery of higher education studies challenging. We are aware that several countries, similar to Australia, have implemented modifications to the supervised professional experience requirements for initial teacher education qualifications.
In recognition of the global impact of covid, the ACECQA Board has agreed to modify the supervised professional experience requirements for international students who have graduated from early childhood teaching qualifications between 1 April 2020 and 31 August 2023 as follows:
- Undergraduate programs: Must include at least 45 days of supervised professional experience, including 30 days in early childhood settings, with a minimum of 10 days spent with children aged birth to under 3 years old (0 – 35 months).
- Postgraduate programs: Must include at least 45 days of supervised professional experience, including 20 days in early childhood settings, with a minimum of 10 days spent with children aged birth to under 3 years old (0 – 35 months).
Evidence Required
We require applicants to provide evidence from their institution outlining the modifications made to their program due to covid, this evidence must confirm:
- the number of supervised professional experience days completed and credited to your qualification, AND
- how the qualification continued to meet the learning outcomes of the program, AND
- whether the modifications were approved by an external governing body.
ACECQA may choose to seek further information from you or a third party (for example your institution) to finalise an assessment. Where an applicant is unable to provide sufficient evidence to support an assessment, or the information cannot be validated by a relevant third party, it may be determined that your qualification does not meet the supervised professional experience requirements.
