Expressions of interest Independent Audit, Finance and Risk Sub Committee Member – Financial management focus

The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) is seeking to appoint a new independent Audit, Finance and Risk sub committee member to play a key role in providing independent assurance and advice to the ACECQA Board.

ACECQA’s Audit, Finance and Risk Committee is a sub-committee of the Board of ACECQA established to provide independent assistance to the ACECQA Board by overseeing and monitoring the organisation’s financial performance and external financial, governance, legal and reporting accountability requirements, internal audit, and governance, risk and control frameworks.

About ACECQA

The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) is an independent national authority that assists governments in implementing the National Quality Framework (NQF) for children's education and care.

ACECQA works with the Australian and state and territory governments to:

  • implement changes that benefit children birth to 13 years of age and their families
  • monitor and promote the consistent application of the Education and Care Services National Law across all states and territories
  • support the children's education and care sector to improve quality outcomes for children.

ACECQA is guided by a governing Board whose members are nominated by each state and territory and the Commonwealth. The Board is accountable to the COAG Education Council.

About the role

ACECQA is seeking expressions of interest for an independent member with expertise in accounting, financial management and financial reporting within a public sector environment. The successful applicant should be a qualified CPA or CA, or equivalent, and have substantial previous experience on audit committees. The successful applicant will bring advanced decision-making, business acumen and demonstrate a commitment to ACECQA’s vision, goals and values.

The committee meets quarterly via teleconference with some members attending at our Sydney office. An additional meeting to address financial statements is also held in September.

Members of the Audit Committee are required to fully disclose any real, perceived or potential conflicts of interest between their private and business interests and their role on the Committee. The appointment will be for an initial one-year period with the potential for extension, up to a maximum of five years.

Business Systems Officer

We provide national leadership on the implementation of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and collaborate with the Australian and state and territory governments.

We strive for innovation and continuous improvement and are committed to keeping the sector and the community informed with the latest developments in early childhood education and care.

We are looking for a Business Systems Officer to join our ICT team and provide support to users across a range of media in ACECQA’s ICT environment. This role is also responsible for service desks tasks supporting ACECQA’s stakeholders in application support, user training and coordinating key procedures.

This opportunity is located in Sydney and is ongoing at ACECQA Band 4 ($74,023 - $83,112).

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in the provision of business application and Level 1 & 2 ICT support to users
  2. Demonstrated experience in a service desk environment, including the use of incident tracking software
  3. Highly developed customer service skills

Senior Officer Program Delivery

We are looking for a Senior Officer to join our Quality Support Program team, providing support to early childhood service providers participating in the program. Support is provided through the development of resources and training materials as well delivering presentations to those services that are Working Towards the National Quality Standard.

This opportunity is located in Sydney and is for a fixed term until 28 June 2019 at ACECQA Band 5 ($83,933 - $102,274).

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in the delivery and/or development of resources, training and/or other services for quality improvement in education and care programs and services (particularly in long day care)
  2. Demonstrated ability to negotiate confidently with internal and external stakeholders
  3. Proven capacity to communicate persuasively and deliver informative and engaging presentations to the education and care sector and other key stakeholders
  4. Demonstrated ability to use a range of technology and learn new systems quickly
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of the children’s education and care sector quality practices and programs (particularly in long day care) and demonstrated familiarity with the NQF including related legislation, learning frameworks and sector resources
  6. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary practices and how they relate to teaching and learning in the early childhood education and care sector

Highly Desirable:

  1. Qualifications and experience in children’s education and care and/or adult learning.
  2. Knowledge of, or experience in, regulatory processes or government decision making.
